Best way to spend $1400 on a relatively stock LO3??

I've got an open element filter and a flowmaster 80 series right now. I'll do the rest of the free stuff later...

Here's what I was thinking:
Edelbrock headers, Catco cat, Edelbrock exhaust. About $800.. Then a fastchip computer chip. Another $160.. Then a Comp Cams 268H high energy cam.. Another $300.. Should I take the $200 and do some ignition upgrades and a shift kit? Or should I try to have someone install some 3.73 gears instead of a camshaft?

Need some ideas. I'm pretty set on the catback, cam and cat idea, I just need help with the last parts...

Edlebrock headers- $330
Gut your car- $0
Posi unit- $325
Install Kit- $125
Gears- $200
Installation- $250---optional if your good

Total $1230

IF you get 3.73 gears your car will be very quick.

------------------
89 camaro 305 tbi, flomaster 3 chamber cat back, gutted cat, Edlebrock TES Headers, Exhaust cutout, Edlebrock open element, 160 degree T-stat, and a Stage 2 FastChip.

2 kicker comp 12"'s, polk for the rest. Phoenix gold xs2300 to subs, kicker impulse 404XI to 4 speakers, pioneer DEH- P7000R head unit, and finally a 12 disc changer. Full leather interior from http://www.MrMikes.com

The car still has to be tested for emmisions.. I would rather just put a higher flowing cat on than gut it. Also, I need a new catback kit bad, my tubes are rusting..

I think i'm going to go with exhuast, headers, cat, and gears..

If you are a little bit sketchy about the whole engine swap thing, then get the gears and a posi. Otherwise build a 350.

Gears and posi. It will make the car into a whole new machine. Next, if you really have the mod bug under skin, just do external engine parts that will transfer over to a 350 when you switch. Also, don't forget to upgrade the suspension. Nothing like spnning the tires while getting the jump put on you by an escort or something.

Transmission: fixed the 700r4 again!
i would say headers/exhaust, gears, heads, cam

those are the areas on an LO3 where you you will notice alot of power increase by replacing stock with aftermarket parts. one other thing is instead of buy a compcam you can svae money by buyingangood used lt1 cam and replacing your valve springs with lt4 springs, its more work but its still cheaper on the parts.

next month: spohn LCA's and panhard rod, BMR relocation brackets, 323 gear, lt1 cam , 350 heads

the first part is good. a complete exhaust will always help. i would suggest getting a used LT1 cam instead of spending 250-300 on a new cam. look into getting an intake, edelbrock performer tbi is a good one. and save fro a good set of heads fromt he aftermarket.

I found a shop in my area that will put in posi and 3.73 gears for $250.. I don't think that's too bad. Looks like I will be getting exhaust, cat, headers, ECU upgrade and 3.73 gears.. After that, I'll save up again and get lt1 cam, vortech heads and MSD ignition.. By next summer hopefully i'll be in the low 14's...
