Heads for 305tbi, need info!

Was looking into buying new heads for my 305tbi. Will the edelbrock centerbolt heads work? Any others out there? Bolt on, or need modifing? Need emissions legal please. Thanks!

Check out the new Jeg's pg.27. SB-Chevy S/R Torquer 305 heads. I have an article from GM high-tech performance that says that these heads make a ton of improvement (w/ a new cam). Just any head will not do because until the 305 torquer came out you couldn't use larger valves b/c of centerline problems. In case you don't have the catolog handy it's part no. 042650-1 (assembled) for $364.99 ea.

Oh by the way, they are bolt on, but I'm not sure of 50-state approved for smog. The catolog doesn't say.

Only thing you've gotta watch out for with the Edelbrock heads is that you can't run any more than .450" lift at the valve. If you do you'll run the valve into the cylinder wall.

i run the peformer centerbolts from edelbrock and i can tell you for a fact that the whole hittign the bore wall thing is a bunch of crap. when i installed my heads i pushed the valve all the way down until the spring was binding up and it didn't hit anything. i pushed it further in than a 630 cam would take it.
it won't hit anything, i'm not sayin it will miss by a lot, but it will miss.

Zar's info says he's from Texas. What the hell does Texas care about smog? Haha

haha Texas should care. Since we cleaned up out here in L.A., Austin has become the smoggiest city in America.
