TBI MOD QUESTION

OK HERE IS A LINK TO THE PIC...
www3.sympatico.ca/r_martel/tbi.jpg

ok the above img is a pic of a spare tbi unit I had bought for parts.. I wish I could mod that one but there 's an extra vaccum line connection and the others aren't the same size for some reason.. this is why I want to make sure I mod my good one properly.

do I grind just #1 flush or do I also grind #2 ??? #2 seems to have fuel that hits it. If I remove it won't fuel spill out of the tb?

also to grind it do I use a dremel?? if so what kind of bit would be best for this??

thks AGAIN..

There's no reason to grind number 2 down - matter of fact depending on how you grind it down you may end up splattering fuel out of there. I'd leave that area alone. Radius the entire edge of the bore nicely, get rid of number 1's ridge and that's about all you're gonna get out of her.

great ... thanks for all the help.. this is by far the best forum I've ever been on.

as for grinding... can I use the dremel and if so what kind of bit would be appropriate? should I use the cutting disc first and then smooth it out?

thks

Well I wish I had known about that before I ground down where you are talking about #2 because the one on the TB I am working with is now gone, ohhh well. Anyway I used a high speed grinding wheel to get rid of the edge but the hig speed cutter would work on the dremel. Also to smooth down the radius some I used the sanding wheels. Does anyone think i will have problems since i removed those ridges?

no, you wont have any problems, any gas that may splatter will eventaully evaporate and go into the engine. and it would be a minute amt unless like stated above, you had a problem with one of your injectors

Yeah, I guess I should have qualified/clarified that statement. With my injector tower spacer I can get fuel splash pretty good up fairly high along the inside of the bore. If you don't have that you probably won't have any problems at all.

The injectors should be spraying just around the edge of the blades. If it's spraying above then you need a smaller spacer! The idea is that at light throttle position, the fuel will be atomized by the fast moving air around the blades.
