TBI and computer swaps
TBI and computer swaps
I have an 1988 camaro TBI. Now has a 350 in it. I know that a TBI unit from a 454 will fit on it. But will the computer swap into my car. Also, can I put the 454 chip in my stock computer? Anyone tried this?
I'd appreciate any help.
Thanx

The truck 1227747 ECM plugs right in and runs. Will the 454 PROM run well in your car? Doubtful. The 454 has a huge pump shot compared to the stk 350 PROM's. It is also calibrated for the 80lbs injectors.

all that you need to do is get a set of the 65 (or 68)lb injectors. Those are usually found on the chevy one ton trucks. Then get a prom from a caprice cop car. I used to have the chip number, but I let someone borrow the receipt and now I don't have the number handy.

He can't do that without swapping ECM's. He has an '88 with the 8063 ECM. The Caprice used the 8746 ECM.
In addition, the Caprices that ran the 8746 ECM's never had the 65lbs/hr injectors. They ran the 55lbs/hr units.

the way it was explained to me, which could very possibly be wrong is that the caprice cop car used a different prom, and #65 injectors. i am about to do the 305 to 350 TBI swap. its not good if these things are incorrect. so far, i know i have to swap ecm's, injectors, and knock sensor. i think the prom number is 1614494. someone off the board gave me this info, he said that he was using it in his 350 TBI swap with a vortech crate motor, i cant remember who though. i was going to do more research on the topic before i started it, now i definately am.

ok, now this is my question, what ECM and # injector is the best to use in a 350TBI swap?

huh, I figured that his ecm would be close to mine since its only within a year, but the 1989 is sort of an odd ball year for some reason. I can try and find the chip number, but I'm not gonna rip my ECM out for that number, sorry...
