Finally got car started, NOW NEED MORE HELP...

I just finished an intake manifold swap, now when I start the car, its really bumpy and then the idle starts to race.. It gets to about 2200 rpms and the check engine light comes on..

Should I lower the fuel pressure and retard the timing?

What should I do??

Since you're having idle problems directly after an intake manifold swap, it would seem to me that a vacuum leak could be the culprit.

If you're getting a check engine light, I would suggest grounding the A and B terminals on the ALDL connector, then turn the ignition key to on and count how many times the check engine light blinks. All the error codes are two digit codes (like 32), so it blinks the first number of the code, then it pauses and then blinks the second number. Each code is blinked three times, and then the process repeats itself.

I'd start there and see where that gets you.

Ok, I set the timing now..

Heres what happens..

I start the car and it sounds like its stumbling to about 500 rpms.. It sits there for about 5 seconds, then it revs itself up to about 1500 rpms and sits there. When it gets to about 1000 rpms, the service engine soon light comes on..

I'm gonna go try to figure out what code it's giving me...

Ok, I think I found the problem..

Where does the vacuum line that is right between the 2 fuel lines on the throttle body go to?

I don't have that connected and I think thats the problem...

I have the same problem you do I think. I installed the TBI intake and have a really rough idle. I had a vacuum leak and timing problem buyt got those fixed. Now the car runs rough at low rpm and idles really rough. I think I might have some vacuum lines mixed up. I have no check engine lights though. Could I have vacuum lines crossed??

Make sure your timing is either 0 or 4*.. The vacuum lines gave me a check engine code so I don't know if that is your problem or not...
