305 TBI EPROM in a 350 TBI?

Would an ADS Super Chip programmed for a '92 305 TBI LO3 work in a '92 350 tbi?

If not, any idea why?

Thanks,

Thomas.

I would wager probably not. At least the fuel requirements of these two engines would be different. Whether or not you could correct this with fuel pressure and injector size is doubtful. You may be able to tune it this way enough so that it will run, but I doubt it will be running all that great. The IAC steps also come to mind, a 350 would need a little more air to idle, and it would be denied that with the 305 programming. I'm new to programming chips, but these seem like valid arguments to me.

I had a hyper tech stage 2 chip in my 305 .And took out the 305 ,put in a 350 and the chip works fine with it. Only one small problem i have noticed is that when i first start up the car it jumps idle (doesn't stall out) from like 5 to 8 grand for about 3 to 5 minutes. After it is warm ..no problems at all

It should be just fine. You will possibly run a little rich. I wouldn't worry about the fuel and spark curves becasue I doubt that they are changed at all from the stock settings. Most of these "off the shelf" after market chips are nothing more than changing the TCC lock/unlock speeds, taking out speed limiter and tunring off some error codes. You'll be fine.

I'm running an '88 Camaro that was originally a 305 TBI with stock PROM. I have swapped in a 350, leaving stock PROM and TBI installed. I have exactly the same problem with the jumping idle first after start up. I guess engine's not performing at it's best, but other than the idle jumping at start up, it runs fine.

Question for you guys who have done this swap - what are you using for cam/intake? I'm going to look at a 4 bolt main 350 tomorrow, with plans for a performer/stealth type intake w/ a TBI adapter plate and some sort of computer compatible cam.

Also, how tough was the swap? I was reading in another post how most accessories etc. will switch right over. Any obstacles to look out for?
