BBC TBI w/ integral governor

How hard is it to install one of these? Does it accept the standard TBI pod, what about the throttle linkage?

The reason Im asking is that I need to get my car smogged soon. Ive been driving with an expired inspection sticker for the longest time because the shop that used to do my car got busted. This car will never pass with the current setup unless I CAREFULLY control the throttle opening. The low speed PE threshold is around 18% and it has a stick, so itll be in PE on the dyno while its being smogged. That and it needs tons of AE to prevent leanout on sudden throttle openings, which causes a large post AE kickback. Most of these guys have room temperature IQs, and the last car I took in they where actually peeling out on the dyno. Still managed to pass, non the less.

Also, see the classifieds if you have one of these and your willing to part with it.

I have the BBC TBI, but it doesn't have the govener. The BBC tbi I have has the same injector pod as the SBC, the throttle arm was different for me because there was no place to hook up the tv cable. If you have a manual trans, then no worries.

The weird thing about the one with the governor is it looks like it has a newer circular wrap-around linkage like youd have on a new car. To those who have one of these, is this so?

Can you post a pic? I think that may be one of the earlier ones. The one I want has a large housing cast with the TBI base and electric motor/actuator This can be driven by the PCM to control the throttle opening. If it is the right one, Ill buy it off you for the parts. That way I can get a junk one and hopefully rebuild it.

no that is not it. it is just a vacuum diaphragm that appears to be adjustable with a hex screw along with mounting bracket. I have no idea as to its purpose. I will take a pic and email to you tomorrow. it did come off 1995-1996 as the injectors were 45 lbs.
