what was the water temp and the outside air temp?
if ti was cold it may just be taking a while for the car to get up to temp and get out of the warm up loop in hte computer.

later

If you drive it right away how long does it take it to drop down?

I mean how long does it take it to drop down even after you put it in neutral. About 3 or 4 minutes on the road and mine is normal, I think.

I had my car taken in for diagnostics a few weeks ago and found the timing was retarded a bit. the guy advanced it 2 degrees and now it revs for a bit (only noticed a couple days ago) at about 12-1400.

I also have low RPM ping...even with 91 octane..so im gonna have it retarded 1 degree....

Id say take it in for the $60 dollar diag.

I had that prob. =D

If you want my advice. You need to tell us how is the RPM in drive. After you go home, how is the engine temp and RPM while driving and in park. Good luck.

I had this problem once, i broke the pigtail wire harness putting my chrome valve covers on and that made it not get the voltage to drop the idle plunger. It was up about 15-1700 rpms.

Keith, 2 degrees made a draastic change in my car's operation, so 1 degree is bound to make a considerable difference.

In southern Ca...the air temp rarely drops below 40... so even at idle (speaking only of the 2 camaros ive worked on and my experience alone) the car idled at 900-1100 after just starting the car.

not fast....not pretty....but has great potential for both.

I've played with my timing before and 1 or 2 degrees still doesn't do @#$@.

It's normal for our cars to idle at 1500 when they are cold. In drive cold they should probably idle around 1000. After they have warmed up and are in drive they should idle at 500.
