Which Edelbrock intake for a 305 TBI "E" code

Ok, I need an intake. I want to know which one to go with. Everything is pretty stock except for open element air filter, and no change to the heads, but I would like to add different heads. I want one that is a bolt in for an EGR car as I am in California, but I do not know by looking at the catalog which ones works for my car. The TBI performer looks WAY too restrictive and since my car is an 88 the 7101 RPM performer will not work. Please let me know the best suggestions...

Thanks

James

do the exaust first. If your engine can't breate out in the second place then there is no reason to try to make it breathe in better in the first place.

the tbi performer is the correct manifold for your car
it is the same design as the regular performer, just with a different mounting area to accomodate the tbi instead of a carb.
if you feel like using a different manifold and keeping the egr your only choice from edelbrock would be the regular permer for center bolt heads. and then you would buy their adaptor to mount the tbi on and hope it clears the hood unless you have a cowl.

I need a new intake do to the fact that I have a whole in the gasket on my current stock one, so I figured might as well jump up. Waht kind of exhaust and how much? I have 300 in my pocket... So I need to replace the gasket and do soemthing else or ??? Any suggestions would be great. I currently have removed the shielding and I have the 14" K&N and I do not have any problems closing the hood so... But do you have part numbers for the performer and the attachement? I need the 88 engine the 7101 only goes up the older heads not the newer ones according to the catalog. Thanks,

James

the performer tbi is for the later heads.
if you have a whole in the intake manifold gasket, doing the exhaust is not going to help at all. also needing a gasket does not mean you need a new manifold, you can just replace teh gasket if you want.

Hi Tim,

True I do not need a new one, but why not ? was kind of my point. I figure might as well do it while I have the time and have the engine open anyway. I'll pick up the performer TBI than and than go to exhaust and open up the engine again some other time. Maybe you can also help me, I have a TON of hoses coming out all over the palce that I have never seen on any other TBI 305. Like on the passenger side two hoses that come into the engine from the firewall go into a weird looking plastic circuit thing... Forgive me for my ignorance I am use to working on cars with no computers and very little hoses. lol James

do a search on "heater valve delete" to learn to get rid of those hoses.
