Cam Query

I have a LO3, daily driver, cold and hot weather (Michigan). As of now, totally stock, getting open air soon, and flowmaster 80. What would a good camm set up be? What type of lift and duration? Should I get 1/6 rockers? good gains? Thanx!

IMO, get a Summit cheapo 204/214deg at .050" lift with .420"/.442" LIFT CAM FOR $79 or so. Worth it's weight in gold and computer will work fine.

I concur. Thats probably the best bang for the buck in terms of cam. If you want to spend more, consider the one of the Comp Cams Xtreme Energy grinds, along with new lifters and valve springs.

Anyone recommend the L98 cam with 1.6 rocker For a mild to high modified LO3?

Thanks

I've heard LT1 or LT4 cams are good for LO3's? Is this true, or the summit one is better?...

any year lt1 cam is a great choice for an LO3 however keep in mind i would recommend you change the valve springs as well b/c the stock springs normal cant handle an lt1 cams lift for very long.. a set of lt4 valve springs 40-45, a used lt1 30-50 or so..

I put in my lt1 cam a few months ago and I was wondering how hard it is to replace the valve springs on the lo3?

What if I just installed 1.6 rocker arms inplace of the 1.5's, would that help any noticable amount? Also, did the LO3 have flat tappet, or what?

Just installing 1.6 rockers will give you a little more on the low end torque, but that's about it. It will not change the operating range of the engine. The stock HYD. ROLLER cam has .234I/.257E lift (at the lobe) with 1.5 rockers that's .351I/.385E VALVE lift. If you were to use 1.6 rockers, the total valve lift would be .374I/.411E. The duration would increase only SLIGHTLY @.050 lift.

Who makes a good (keep in mind budget) 1.6 roller rocker set?
