on my 350 grind

well i replaced my 305 for a 350 a while ago, and unfortunately i was on a budget and i still need to finish up with the swap.

the car non the less runs good despite the fact i still have stock exhaust. stock 305 injectors, and a 305 esc. but i do have a cop car prom chip from tbi chips and i have a 350 tpi fuel pump. the car runs decent (even won a couple street races).

any way my question is

i want to buy 350ci 55# pound injectors
can anyone recommend a good site.

will these size injectors fit in my stock tbi.

and should i get my tbi rebuilt and i dont have leaks , how much can that run me?

will i have to get a different manifold because of the size of those injectors.

and i get mixed answers if i should change the esc.
should i? what will notice in the car?

input much appreciated ,thank u.

this is also my daily driver( to go to school ,work, chill with the shortys ,to get eggs and milk. the whole nine yards.)

my end result would be to have a nicely restored 89 rs runing z28 l98 numbers.

Re: on my 350 grind

The 350 injectors are larger than those on your 305, so upgrading them to the proper size (not just to match the engine displacement but to match the size the ECM is expecting to be there) is probably a very good idea. Unless I'm badly mistaken the TB unit on a 350 is the same as a 305, just with different sized injectors up top.

The manifold is the same.

Agreed, you will get mixed answers on the ESC. I've used 305 ESCs and knock sensors on 350s, 383s and 400s and they have worked without any problem and still pick up knock counts just fine. In short, haven't noticed that there's much if any difference. Others will probably have different experience.

Once you get the basic stuff sorted out, as you are doing, I'd recommend a better exhaust (you probably are already planning that). The stock 305 TBI exhaust is lousy from the manifolds to the tailpipe. Shorties along with a 3" y-pipe, 3" cat and 3" cat-back makes a world of difference. I have upgraded stock TBI exhausts a few times by buying kits built for same-year 350 TPI cars. Then you know the hookups and hangers will all be in the right place. DON'T buy kits for TBI engines- they use the same headers but from the y-pipe back they neck down to little TBI sizes which kinda defeats the purpose of doing it.

Re: on my 350 grind

the 350 used 61lb injectors, not 55lb. they will fit in your tbi. you can probably find injectors at a local junk yard from a 350ci truck engine or ebay. with that pump you could just get an adjustable regulator and get your pressure up whaere it needs to be to feed the 350. no need for a new manifold. do you know your fuel pressure? im surprised its not lean with those injectors. even with the tpi pump, you regulator is still keeping you at stock pressure. you wouldnt want to lean it out from small injectors and burn a piston or something.

Re: on my 350 grind

yea i just realized that the 305 comes stock with the 55

so i need the 61z.
arent those the cop car injectors?

so im going to hold out on the esc until i get this fuel delivery resolved.

hmmm im going to need a fuel pressure regulator and all the plumbing ,
should i get universal one

what do you guys recommend? a website would help.

i just got my 3" cat back not to long ago, i have yet to install that.

i gotta order my headers and y pipe but im on the order a part a month basis because money is short is especially when you have school and billz.

any tips please let me know !!!!

thanks guys on shedding light.

There is a lot of misinformation floating about cop car injectors. For the most part, IMHO, they are not worth the hype. Just get the regular vanilla truck TBI injectors from 350 and have them serviced and flow tested. You can increase FP, but since you have only a factory tune do not stray too far from factory fuel pressure ~ 13PSI. For higher fuel pressure you will have to tune your engine - EPROM. This requires time and equipment to get it right.

Re: on my 350 grind

If you have this "cop car prom" from them, that means its set up for the injectors that came in those cars, which are 65/68# injectors. Since you have a TPI pump, I'd personally just up the pressure on the 305 injectors to equal that much flow. Read the TBI stickies at the top, you can make your regulator adjustable very easily.

You are going to need to tune it most likely, but it should run ok for the time being if it's not a wild 350 combo.

For the ESC and knock sensor, you definitely need one for a 350, there is no question about that. Will the 305 module/sensor pick up knock counts? Most likely, but they will also most likely be false. The knock sensors and ESC modules are tuned to the frequency that each engine would give during knock, based on the bore of the motor. So, 350 is different from 305.
