the stock tbi motor for that year has 190 horses, why not just save some trouble, and carburete that tbi motor? all you need is another intake, or use the one you got. it'd be a quick and easy 45 horse swap.

fuel injection is much better than the caveman carb for street.

you need the wiring harness, sensors and ECM, TBI etc. at least you have everything in a donor truck. it will be very time consuming.

Just saw gas hit $3.99 in downtown LA. Do you really think Q-Jet can deliver fuel economy and performance???

I dumped Q-Jet and went to FI. Lots of work - plan accordingly.

oh, i didn't know he was looking for gas mileage. I mean gas mileage was the last thing on my mind when i bought my camaro. Yeah, FI is way more economical sure. But if you want more power i'd carburete that engine and get rid of that quadrajunk.

Re: 305 q-jet to 350tbi?

ok this is not a stock motor.its running about 300 horsepower now and allready has vortec heads.motor is a fresh rebuild with 5000 miles on it.so power is no issue and it gets fairly good gas milage.it was in a ext cab short bed and still got 20-25 miles a gallon.could i uses the fuel pump from the truck for the car?i have all sensors and full horness with ecm.the tbi stays so dont try to say a carb will be better cause i dont care.will the y-pipe from the truck work or do i need to use my old one?thanks for all the help so far its just the gramps been giving a few years from kidney cancer and looking for a good winter project to keep his mind off it.

fine, keep your tbi. You never mentioned that it was a built vortec. I was just tryin to help. Sounds like a great idea. TBI is so easy to hook up since you have the ecm, harness and all the sensors. Let me know how that works out for ya.

85 camero

Stock CCC FP will not do - get a TBI pump - I do not know if truck FP is same as the 3rdgen.

Transfer all sensors, harness & ECM.

Y - pipe - do not know. Just have to see.
