Engine Break-in Please help-- confused

hey guys well i just did my LT1 cam swap. im about to put the engine back together. finally got sum good weather.

i am wondering what i should do BEFORE I TURN THE KEY!

also i have sumthing to follow for the initail break-in. but im still a lil confused. now after i finish all my mods, do i have to burn a new chip for my ECU? i dont know how to so, if there is sum1 that can do it for me, that would help.

also i was hearing sum stuff about valve lash. WHAT IS IT? and do how do I FIX IT? and do i have to take the center valve springs out for initial break in?
i have read stuff but i AM A NOOB to this.

here are the specs of my car, as i will be putting them finally on

-projection 670cfm TB
-edelbrock performer 2101, w/ custom aluminum made TB adapter plate
-heman headers and Y-pipe, straight to Flowmasters 80 series muff
-A/c and smog delete
-v-belt setup, with underpulleys
-high performance waterpump
-180 deg thermos-stat
-brand new distributor
-Lt1 cam and springs
-New chain timing set
-brand new stock fuel pump

other mods include suspension mods

Well I am a n00b too, but I will try and help out...

I dont know about the break-in, but I am gonna hazzard a guess that it isnt as critical as it would be if you had a flat-tappet cam.

For the ECM, yeah you are supposed to tune it. And nobody can do it for you, because every motor is different. So you might either want to invest in chip burning stuff, or an EBL setup from dynamicEFI.com .

I believe there is steps on how-to set the valve lash, in the LT1 cam swap guide. I believe he has 2 different ways you can go about it.

I also read that, if you are unable to burn a chip, you might want to at least set the base timing more advanced.

It's a roller cam, there's no special break-in procedure required. Lash the valves and go.

I did the same swap and newer heard of walve lash.
You need to tighten the puschrods to 0 lash and then give another 3/4 turn, you can find the exact description in the "ultimate lt1 cam" stiky. Just ask if you need more details, dont want to write if you already know.

You dont need cam lube, just soak every inner engine parts with the old engine oil before intallation and poor the rest of it over the lifter walley before installing the manifold.
After 10min idling after starup change the oil and filter.

Just courious why u using double timing chain and 670cfm tb?

its not a double roller, its stock sorry made a mistake. well i got the cam in. had to use a lil power, and twist n turn it. i need to know how to turn the cam without that crank socket tool. i dont have 1 lol.

also do u need the dowel that comes off the camshaft? like does it have to go thru the cam sprocket? i cut myne a lil short and it doesnt go thru the sprocket. soo just wanna know if thats ok?

I turned the crank with the crank bolt and a long torque wrench.

As long as you still have some of the pin left it'll be fine. Turning the engine by the crank bolt isn't a good idea.
