Cleaning up the engine bay.

Well I just bought a Camaro. Its an 89' Rally Sport with a TBI 305. Under the hood it looks like theres alot of crap I dont need. Looks really cluttered. My question is, what can I get rid of and what do I need to keep? Im probably going to throw a carb on, also.

get rid of the manifolrds and run headers, that will help unclutter the engine bay by getting rid of all the smog lines, get rid of the a/c as well if it has it. Then the smog pump. all that will really help make the engine look better. Also an open element helps by getting rid of the stock intake.

I agree with everything he said and all, but i think if you keep the smog pump on it will look beeter imo, but it just what you like.

Yea true thats what my dad has on his Gmc looks pretty good. Is there any way to remove the ac and replace it with a pully?

Re: Cleaning up the engine bay.

You guys must be dang tough if you're willing to remove the AC just because it looks better. Get ride of the smog crap and really you could get rid of the EVAP canister and purge solenoid because its just about useless on OBDI. It may not even set a code when you take it off its that useless.

Re: Cleaning up the engine bay.

not only does it look better without a/c it also frees up a microscopic amount of horsepower. but every little bit helps.
