I need CFI help!

Okay, after new exhaust, my '83 CFI runs much better now. The trans is even shifting way better too. Part throttle feels pretty strong (well relatively speaking). But when I punch it, the engine pops (actually makes the sound), stumbles and sometimes dies.

I'm going to check for vacuum leaks tomorrow. Could it be the ignition module/coil? I've only had the car 5 days, but I think the fuel filter is pretty new. I don't even want to think about the fuel pump (ouch$$$$).

Any thoughts?

Re: I need CFI help!

So I went looking for vaccuum leaks today. I really didn't find any. BUT, when I checked the intake manifold bolts, they were all about a 1/4 turn loose. Talk about a big mother of a vacuum leak. I cleaned the throttle bodies out much better and advanced the timing 4*.

The full throttle stumble is virtually gone.
I'm pretty sure that the ignition module and coil are original, (96K miles). I'm thinking about replacing those - or is that a waste of money?

WOT Fuel pressure? I would do the filter and maybe the pump if you find it dropping at wot.

How would you measure that, from where the fuel filter is? And is the fuel filter in the same place as the TPI's - between the back seat and rear axle?
