305 tbi power adders.....

I currently have a 305 TBI in a 92 RS. Iam going back and forth on swappping ot a 350 TPI or just do some add ons to my 305. I am not looking to drag this car, other than the occasional street race, I just want it to have more power. What easy addons can I do to the engine, without screwing up the ECM?

open element air cleaner
ultimate TBI mods
full exhaust
intake
fuel pump
fuel regulator

i think thats about it for mods that don't require any ECM modding

Why use an open element. Find something with a snorkel to draw in cool air - not hot underhood air.

Because the open element draws more air and is cheaper. The stock setup doesn't flow enough air to even feed a decent V6. Unless you want to have a DIY hack job for an air intake, you pretty much have to move the battery to the back of the car to get a CAI setup to work. That costs a lot of time and money and the only decent TBI CAI setup out there is a piece it together yourself setup from Spectre Industries. The kit is great, but not exactly something I'd want to spend that kind of money on.

Also, for those of us who use a strut tower brace, CAI isn't possible due to space requirements.

If you do all these mods you may get away with it using the stock tune, but if you start playing with the fueling you will have to do the adecuate changes in the bin, to convert the work in to rwhp.

I wasn't refering to the finished product looking bad, rather I was saying that he'd have to cut together a few parts to make his own DIY CAI.

Sorry for the misrepresentation.

Any cam other than stock will require a tune. Many on here change cams without the requisite tune, but it is unadvisible. Fast355 has more info on the subject of tuning in relation to mods.
