WinALDL

Does anyone know where I could get the adapter to try this software on my ECM? Is it something you can pick up at an auto parts store? I want to collect the data from my 88 Camaro ECM with the ALDL software. Got the software, but not seeing anything on the interface for the ECM and the serial of my PC.
Many thanks to all!

Do a search. You can build one yourself with the right parts, cheaply (<$10). You can also buy one from several places. Moates.net is one of them.

A tip on the prongs that fit into the ALDL socket. They are GM and available at checker. I believe they are small male round fittings. They fit perfectly.

Re: WinALDL

Thank you! Does that cable had a serial at the other end for the laptop?
I sent a message to moates.net regarding this part ALDU1 and CABL1 XtremeALDL and NewCABL1 Combo [Model: ALDU1_CABL1]
It looks like it will work, but I am just not sure of the ECM connector from their description.

Re: WinALDL

If you have a serial on your lappy yes. If USB(like me) you need an adapter. Better thought if you have USB is to buy the ALDL for USB lappy.

Re: WinALDL

Agreed - I prefer the USB... That part number I posted is a USB Adapter on the other end, but I guess I need them to tell me the cable 1 portion will fir my ECM and the device supports it.

Re: WinALDL

The one I have from moates.net hooks up to the ALDL port under the steering column. It goes to usb and will work for pretty much all tbi and tpi cars. I've used it with WinALDL and TunerProRT with success. Craig makes good stuff.

The one I build I actually cut spade terminals in half to get them to fit in the ports. It's not pretty, but it worked. If you do choose to make your own, make sure you find out if you need the open or 10k ohm resistor for it to work.

Re: WinALDL

Thank you guys for helping me figure this out! I got a message back from Moates about the part and they tell me it will connect to my ALDL port, so I am gonna order that later on today. Hoping to get the info I want from it!
