Re: 90'rs bad sensor? timing jumped?

You have fuel - you have spark.
You need compression, and timing of events.

Timing chain is semi-easy to check.
Pull the cap.
Turn the engine over backwards (by hand obviously!) until the timing mark is somewhere on the scale above the 10* mark.
Put a clothes pin/hemostat/paperclip/whatever on the edge of the distributor, pointing at the trailing edge of the rotor.
Now slowly turn the engine forward until the tip of the rotor JUST starts to move.
Check the timing tab, and see how many crank degrees of rotation it took to turn before movement.

It's not a hard science, but any much more than about 6-8* means your chain has probably stretched, and MIGHT have jumped.

Re: 90'rs bad sensor? timing jumped?

it runs again, i put all the original parts back on it after i cleaned the cap and rotor with a dremel only thing i done different was that i unhooked the battery and reconected it again it runs pretty much as good as ever, sometimes it doesn't want to idle and the service engine light is on, any ideas as to why?

Jump ALDL A/B pins, pull codes, report back. Just guessing otherwise.

Did you pull the codes as requested? If you haven't disconnected the battery... they're still there.

A paperclip. Chunk of wire. They'll both suffice.

Stuff into the A/B pins of the ALDL. Turn on the key. Count the flashes. Ignore flash-flash/flash (code 12).
