timing

What is the timing supposed to be for an 89 305 TBI? I've read it could be 0* or 6* advanced. I believe last I had it in the shop to get the timing set, I believe they put it at 6* advance. I only use 87 gas. Just wondering where it is supposed to be set at?

Do you by any chance know of a pic that shows where that bolt is your supposed to put your wrench on to be able to adjust the distributor?

Re: timing

How are you supposed to read the timing mark? From the top, or at an angle by the alternator? I've noticed the timing mark can look like it is set different depending on how you look at it.

Re: timing

Well I guess it don't matter as that bolt on the distributor won't turn. It is set at 6*. You can't get a socket to it. And you can barely get a wrench to it. And you really don't have much room.

Re: timing

They do make a special wrench for that if you're having too much of an issue getting an open end on it, you could pick up the special one at harbor freight.

I'll have to look. I can get the wrench on there, but I don't have enough room to turn the wrench as it appears that bolt isn't wanting to move. And when trying to turn, I have maybe just a 1/4" to turn it, and the wrench pops off the bolt.

Then I tried putting the wrench in on the driver side, but I only had enough room to use my thumb to try and turn the wrench, but it wouldn't budge.

Do you have a part number for that wrench on HF? I couldn't find it.
