305 to 350 swap/ rebuild. Need some help!!

Hello there. I have a 88 firebird 5.0 tbi. My rear main seal is leaking bad so instead of rebuilding my 305 I was gona pull a 350 block at a pick n pull. But i have been reading and it says 350 tbi's were only in caprices. I am Noe wondering if I should change my plans or find a caprice. My questions are

would it be hard to find a 350 caprice in a picknpull?

If so what engine items do I need to get for the 350?

What other engine rebuilds or engine typed should I do?

One of the main reasons I want to continue with tbi is because I just recently bought the edelbrock peformer tbi intake manifold

350 tbi engines also came in a ton of trucks and suv's built from 88-95.
And if you have the tbi intake manifold then i think you should be able to use just about any 350 that's pre 1996, just put your intake and tbi setup on the 350 heads. I would recommend changing the injectors out with 350 injectors though, especially if you plan on turning high rpms.

Ok and the tranny should Match up correctly of those years right? Also this means that I'm gonna have to rip a ECM also rite? I'm thinking of ording a hypertech chip for the 350 ECM but would have to get it for the model I get right? And one last question would it be bad for me to run my 305 heads more compression or bad idea? Goin to be port polishing them and also going to be ordering a bigger cam (smog legal)

I would look out for a 350 with a roller cam, I think the LO3 heads on a 350 is not a good idea, bad flow numbers small valves.

A coustom chip will work, among other things you will need to find out how much fuel you need, swap injectors or increase fuelpressure and then set it up in the calibration.

Though if you plan to keep and combine TBI with performance, EBL flash is the way to go http://dynamicefi.com/ it will make the whole tuning process alot easyr and efficient.
As you figure out and add new/more upgrades, you make the little changes to the calibration and load it, not effective? change and reload. EBL learns the VE tables for you.

Stock 305 heads (58cc) chambers on top of the stock flattop 350 pistons will result in high compression ratio - you can use any online CR calculator to find actual value. 305 heads use small valves and if you are already going through the trouble of rebuilding 350 I would recommend investing into a good set of heads - cam combo.

For a good foundation look for 96+ vortec block (880) these are excellent foundation for a good performance engine.

No. Exept these eventually http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-30300005/ they have bigger valves and wery good flow numbers.

Here two "small" combustion chambers 350 heads http://www.summitracing.com/parts/EDL-60859/
