Anyone have a picture of a tbi 454 swap? What did you do for motor mounts and other fabrication?

IIRC, you can use stock style mounts, I believe that AC has to go, depending on where you are, that may or may not matter. their aren't many exhaust options available, and many require modification to work. I've got a TBI 454 in my truck, I bet a thirdgen would scoot pretty good with even a relatively stock one, but handling would suffer without significant weight reduction to the front end of the car.

throw some aluminum heads on it. a tubular k frame and you'll be set! I think the mounts will work the same as he said. but i dont think they make headers for this application. that'd be badass though. Id do it on a drag only car for sure

Hooker does, but they aren't exactly bolt in and go, check the engine swap board, I remember seeing a couple of threads about big block headers.Originally Posted by UnderCover89TBI

another good question though, are the heads on a TBI 454 worth a crap?

Well BBC heads flow well. But the weight! I would change to aluminum you'll be shaving around 70 lbs off I'd imagine.

it would end up weighing about what a iron head smallblock weighs, not all BB heads are created equal though, they have their bad apples just as the smallblocks do.Originally Posted by UnderCover89TBI

I know that's why im stressin cause then you wouldn't have too much nose weight. I know the older BBC's flowed like crazy stock. I wanna get another thirdgen someday and do a BBC swap into it. NO a/c carbureted. track only car. that would be awesomeOriginally Posted by ericjon262

A/C is definately needed in Nevada. Friend's got an old truck hes parting out and I'm taking the motor. Here's another question, can i just put a different chip in the ecm and run this motor without having to change the wiring? Weight on the nose was a thought I had but it just sounds too fun not to.

Gen V BBC started in 1990.
Hey that looks pretty slick. I hope mine will look 1/10 as good when it's done.

Hey man, thanks for the good comments!
Really digging that air cleaner 92 BBC Z. Is that a custom job or an aftermarket part. It's even carbon fiber to boot.

Yeah, thanks for the comments. Its a really nice piece, its a ex-nascar unit. Its also fully funtional with a wickerbill-style adjustable cowl seal strip. The whole assembly weighs less than the filter element itself. I had to do some fabricating(I made a spacer/adapter) to make it fit( to high and it hits the hood, to low and it hits the throttle linkage)and function.
