Finished swap,Hello 5.7=]

Just finished our 305-350 swap in my 88 Trans am. Yes there was large sums of cussing, and also a lot of anger and bullcrap involved. But were finally finished=] Just a few things here and there. New rad fan switch, spark plug heat wrap, nothin bad at all. We also need to get the new ypipe fitted to the Catalytic converter.

The engine is a 350 l05 TBI out of a 93 Buick Roadmaster. It was owned by an old lady so she took real good care of it. Got it cleaned up and painted, replaced some parts, put some headers on,rockers, the usual.
We were pretty nervous at first. But FIRST TRY the engine cranked about 3 times and fired right up! sounds like a beast. Runs really well and im very happy with the result. There were some things that caused a few roadblocks on the way. Needed a new TBI chip to work with the new motor, new sensors, had to remove some of the unused sensors on the motor, and for some reason the Roadmaster motor had a Mechanical oil pressure unit? So we had to replace that also. New gasline, vacuum lines, transmission lines, swapped the positive and negative lines to front mount( the PO had the lines for top mount) New water pump, oil pump,Rad lines, brake booster line, power steering pump, and we rebuild the throttle body. We also got a new fuel sending unit because the old one rusted away. New starter, solenoid, High performance Taylor spark plugs,MSD distributor cap, chrome valve covers, and swapped the r12 to r134. And cant forget the Open Element air breather! Bought the Spectre Speed open element at auto zone for 70 bucks, and a 1 1/2 inch spacer. it fit without the distributor in,but after all was said and done,it sat up to high. So were picking up a 10" Edelbrock one tomorrow. Heres some pics.

The video does not do justice at all. This was the first startup. We fired her up today and she didnt even crank once, she fired up as soon as you turned the key. It shakes the ground and when you rev her it shakes the whole car. God im so glad i didnt rebuild that 305.

Re: Finished swap,Hello 5.7=]

If your doing a same for same swap it'll take you a weekend. but now if your swapping engines and some parts, plus adding headers, etc...then maybe 2 weekends.

Civilian B-car L05 had 180 HP and 300 ft/lbs....Blame that on the tiny little L03 roller cam that was in them.
