Fuel problems
I have a 91 Camaro RS that I swapped out the 305 for a 350. I changed the knock sensor, ESC module, 350 tbi, and have a Hypertech chip in the computer. Note I also have 2 caprice chips if need be.
Now the problem is I am not getting fuel to the injectors. I had it running and then it quit when I realized I needed to change sensors. I can hear the fuel pump working, I have fuel to the TBI but not coming out of the injetors. I used a test light and with the key in the ON postion 1 wire on each connector would light and stay lite. It has a new distributor due to the old one being bad. Where should I look next? Friday I'll be going to the junkyard as they are having a half off sale so I will try to pick up another TBI but I dont want to just throw parts at it.
It cranks just fine just no fuel from the injectors.

Re: Fuel problems
The injectors arent getting told to fire. You say you changed teh distributor did that come with a new ignition control module? That is my #1 suspect, after that it is teh VATS system which is the vehicle anti theft system. Is the securty light flashing? If you havnt changed the IGM change that and see how she does.

Re: Fuel problems
Misstype I meant icm which is igniting control module. I put a new distributor in and its icm was bad. So its still possible. Check the grounds on back of cylinder heads it could be loose or broken.

Re: Fuel problems
I swapped TBI units and I now have fuel flow, but its still not starting.
I checked spark and I do have spark, so I'm gonna double check to make sure I have the distrubitor in correct and not 180 or a tooth off.

Re: Fuel problems
ok I think I finally figured out the fuel pump is dead. It stopped sparying fuel when the tbi ran dry, so I took the fuel line off and hooked a rubber hose to it and jumped the test wire. There is no fuel coming out at all, even after adding a few gallons to see if it was just to low. I can hear it running but the pump sounds weak.
On a postive note when i poured gas down the TBI it was tring to start until it ran out.

Re: Fuel problems
ok so the pump was good the hose inside the tank was rotted away. i replaced the pump anyway. I'm not getting fuel and spark but the car still doesnt want to start.
I have tried moving the distributor around and on different teeth to see if I was off, but it'll try to start then just pops. Not backfire popping just make pop pop pop sounds.
Could it be b/c I dont have a 350 computer chip in the car? I'm running out of ideas and dont want to just throw parts and $$$ at it without knowing what I need.
Any help would be great. Anybody have pictures of where the rotor should be pointing on TDC?

Re: Fuel problems
Well if the #1 cylinder is on TDC on compressio stroke the rotor should be pointing to #1. Your not supposed to change the whole computer just the PROM. I think it'd run if its in stockish form either way. Sounds like a possible timing problem now.

Re: Fuel problems
well I found out that the 305 balancers and the 350 balancers timing marks are way off. And I have the 305 balancer on my car right now so I have to swap it since thats whats casuing the timing to be way out. its gonna wait until the weather gets nicier and I finish my suburban I'm working on.
