How do you figure a four-pin module is going to interface with an onboard computer?

Re: ACCEL CONTROL MODULE CAPABILITY

that is for the big cap HEI distributor. the small cap distributor calls for a different part #. But just for the record the best one to use is the stock GM style one. And id recomend carrying a spare with you at all time.

Why???

A quality (top line, not the discount Made-In-China junk line) HEI module is WORLD-CLASS reliable. There is no other electronic ignition that is as durable or reliable as the HEI system in it's various versions; provided it was made BY GM or made to GM specs as direct replacement parts.

Of course, Chinese "hot rod" crap tends to be bottom-of-the-barrel; as you might expect.

EFI cars use 6-7 pin modules.

Mainly because it is small and easy to carry in the car. and these things can go out at any time without warning. so if your 200 miles away from home 15 mins to change one out on the side of the road with a minimal amount of tools you'd have on hand is easier and cheaper than paying for a tow. you dont have to be confrontational about this. I know you designed the HEI module and all. I am not knocking it or saying it is bad. I am just saying they can go out and it being such a small part it is easy to carry one in the car with you.

Yeah, when I go on long trips I carry a spare module, coil, & fuel pump (easy to change on c4 vette), plus some tools to change them.
Most guys on these boards really like their cars & dont like to leave them on the side of the road.

Re: ACCEL CONTROL MODULE CAPABILITY

well they could randomly start going out. like if the car gets hot it shuts off and you have to wait a little while for it to restart. most times for me it just goes out while im driving down the road. its an easy on the side of the road diagnosis. Pop off your air cleaner see if you have injector pulse? no...ok now also check spark. no? module is bad. For me it is worth it to carry a spare. I also carry a spare coil, and heater control valve since my car seems to go thru one of those a year.

Unless the no-spark is caused by a defective coil, defective pickup, defective wiring harness, defective carbon button...

You've got undiagnosed problems with your vehicle.

Modules and coils should last years and a hundred thousand miles. FIRST thing I'd suspect is excessively wide plug gaps--but there's a bunch of possibilities beyond that.

Heater control valves similarly should go years and years. What fails? Diaphragm? Corrosion of the tube?

your funny. Notice I said if you dont have fuel out of the injectors and no spark then its the module.

The heater valve is a cheap piece of **** that always ends up cracking once a year it seems.

The coil ive never had to change on teh side of the road. But notice these are all small items that you can easily carry. and easily change on the side of the road. I dont like spending money on tows. even if i have free towing you gotta wait for a truck and all that. I dont really need to explain myself to you. Id appreciate if you wouldnt quote me or respond to anything I say. and for the record. A module should last you a 100k miles. So I guess around 99k I'll start carrying one instead of all the time? its small. I have no undiagnosed problems. My car is reliable and runs good and I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere at any time. Hence it is my daily driver.
