tbi cam help

i have been building a 355 tbi (with ebl flash) for my car and i have been looking in to a new cam for it but i have been told that you have to have a high lsa for the motor to run good and reading some of the other threads on here i have come to understand that you have to have a high lsa and small duration for the tunning to be easy although im assuming theres more to it than that plus i used comp cams cam quest and it shows all the cams with high lsa and low duration eather havte a really low power band or dont make any power at all im trying to fined a cam that will give the car a mid to high power band the heads are 906 vortec heads with the comp cam version of the ls6 springs witch give the heads a max lift of 550 so if any one could give me some cam recomendations or just help give me some more imfo. on how the cam dur. lift and lsa play in to the intake vacume and the power band of the motor that would be great thanks for the help

Re: tbi cam help

The 08-503-8 cam is a good choice to maximize hp from the vortecs. That combo should be capable of over 400fwhp.

Yes, it will present somewhat of a challenge to tune, but do-able. EBL will make it somewhat easier. The more cam overlap the more difficult the tune. Could go with a comp cam in the 262-268 range, but that will lower your rpm range and loose some high end hp. All depends on what you want.

Re: tbi cam help

I chose a 12-268-4 224/230 @ .05 with a 114 LSA 1800-5800 rpms. that RPM is spot on. Power falls off at 1700 during cruise under load 5th gear @ 60 mph.
Another choice would be one step down on duration (220-226?) but 112 LSA peaking around 5400.

Just my opinion. I would do a search for members that have posted mods and dyno results. A good search is for member Fast 355/Fast305 as he has posted his combos and dyno results I recall.
