Whipple supercharger tuned chip available?

Gentlemen, and I use that term loosely, haha,

I'm considering a 305-350 swap, retaining the TBI, using a 670, but with a used Whipple '88-'95 supercharger.

Do you know of any competent mail chip tuners/burners you could recommend for this combination beyond TBIchips?

I wouldn't be able to do the EBL data logging self tuning thing, unfortunately.

With the proper supplied mild engine specs, would this be do-able through the mail do you think?

Thanks very much.

Re: Whipple supercharger tuned chip available?

I found this site a while ago. They offer a full procharger package for a 305 tbi. http://www.tbi-superchargers.com/TBI...o_305_TBI.html

to mod or admin: If this is against the rules or some stuff to post the link ill remove it.

that is not a procharger, it's a wynjammer. also... no the mail in tune will never be as dead on as a live tune. and when dealing with boost you need accuracy.

actually the efficiency of the wynjammer is nowhere near the procharger's... wynjammer peters out ~6psi

It would need to be a miracle.

Save your $$$ for the EBL purchase. It can handle boost.

Your best bet is to sell off the whipple and build a hot N/A engine

Re: Whipple supercharger tuned chip available?

Ronny,
I've seen endless tortured back and forth posts trying to dial in a non-factory TBI combinations.
Do you have any non-stock EBL TBI tunes under your belt that you think turned out well? I remember seeing your name here quite a bit. I mean for a carb only EFI newbie, would the learning curve be pretty long before it's drive-able?

Thanks

Still, it all functions basically the same.

Re: Whipple supercharger tuned chip available?

if you plan on supercharging your tbi you will need more than just a way to tune it and just putting it on your motor. You will also need to use larger injectors and a higher flowing fuel pump to feed the motor. Adjustable fuel pressure regulator or vrfpr. Wideband o2 sensor is also highly recommended.

I point out some of these things because it helps to have everything covered before you begin installing the supercharger and to know what you are getting into. I have a wynjammer installed on my tbi along with the ebl and it still took some work and aggrivation to get it running half way decent and it still was not nearly perfect. Without the ebl or a way to tune it and datalog, you will have a nearly impossible time getting it to run right.

Look at it this way, would you rather have a car that makes 300 hp and gets 30 mpg or a car that makes 300 hp and gets 10 mpg?

A mail order chip would be ok for starting, but you couldn't drive the car over 2k rpms without breaking something, you would NEED to have it dyno tuned.

Why was that a reply to me? Completely irrelevant.

The first sentence was a reply to you, the second to the OP. Because you said that it is the same because it functions the same, when that isn't true. One is more efficient than the other, making quite a big difference in the two actually.
