Re: ecm choice

I'm setting up a 1967 el camino, and I have the tbi parts and both ecms, only differance I see in the wiring is the pontiac has 2 ground driver wires for each injector and a mat sensor. Better in reliabilty and milage for the 327ci

Re: ecm choice

I would go for the 746 and start with a anlu tune. both are reliable ecms but the sa tables and the mat use is imo better.

Re: ecm choice

Personally I'd get a 7427 from a 94-95 1500 truck, they also came in Astro vans and I think S-10's. The data logging is so much better because it's 8192 baud and the PCM runs the engine so much smoother vs the C3 ECM's. Also no need to solder the pins together on the chip or run an adapter when tuning, just solder a DIP socket in place of the original chip and stick a ZIF socket in it for tuning purposes. If you already have a wiring harness for one of the older computers the connectors that plug into the computer will need to be repined to the 7427 connectors but it's fairly simple and takes about 45 minutes to do.
