Alright guys. So after searching forum after forum on why my 92 RS 350 TBI will surge in RPM's during idle while warming up, then come near to stalling (sometimes actually stalling out)...I just want to know who can shed some light on this because it seems to be a somewhat common thing with these cars. The car was originally a 305 TBI but was swapped for a 350 (not sure if that helps...just figured I'd throw that out there). Thank you guys..

 

It sounds like a lean condition. Is it still using the 305 throttle body?

 

Yes it's the original throttle body from the 305.

 

That could be your problem. I would use the throttle body and ecm from the 350 just to be safe.

 

Where would be a good place to find those ?

 

You need to get 55#hr tbi truck injectors not a complete throttle body and the correct ecm calibration.

Are not the 305 and 350 TB's the same size. Injectors being larger for the 350 engine?

as stated surging is often lean.

 

right on the money Ronny the 454 is a larger tb bore though.

 

And swapping in a 7.4L is not necessarily a good idea unless you need the flow.

 

You can grab a complete tb and ecm from a salvage yard for $60...I meant a complete throttle body with injectors in my earlier post. I actually have a tb from a 350 sitting on a shelf in my garage. I don't need it.

 

you wouldnt , need a complete ecm just the L05 prom used in 89-92 b-body. I woulnt wast my on bone yard injectors but if your hard up

 

Okay so the lo5 chip, injectors, anything else? I've been told to also look into a knock sensor and esc. True?

 

This TB you have, how much would you want for it? I would also need an LO5 prom and what about ECM/esc?

 

The esc may work you would need to post the number on yours but the knock sensor would need to be changed to a standard motor products Ks7 or equilivent.

 

I'll take $30 plus shipping. The complete tb is all I have.
