first tbi build.. thoughts?
Starting to plan my first rebuild. got a 92 chev 1500 short box with a 350 tbi in it. It has 250k on it so im thinking a rebuild will do it good. My plan so far
refurbish stock tbi unit, get a throttlebody spacer and injector spacer
use stock heads i have the 193 swirl ports im pretty sure. Dont know if i should rebuild those or buy a new set? I was debating going vortecs and getting a intake to fit but i was talking to a guy and said its basically a waste to go with those heads unless i get a intake with 600-650 cfm. With it being my first rebuild i think ill try to keep cost down so maybe rebuilt 193's are the way to go?
bore the cylinders, get a set of flat top pistons and keep the piston to bore clearance tighter then a nuns......
get the deck milled .010 to up the compression a bit, I havnt really picked out a cam yet and undecided if i go roller or not. Will be putting on headers and exhaust system. install a AFPR also. Any thoughts or insight appreciated! Thanks

Toss the swirl ports , I wouldn't waste your money on a tb spacer or a injector pod spacer. Put your money into some vortec heads instead and 55#hr injectors mild cam and a new prom for your ecm.
Re: first tbi build.. thoughts?
alright so swirl ports are garbage. If i get a set of vortec heads this intake?

That maybe to high to fit under your stock hood.

Re: first tbi build.. thoughts?
alright so game plan,
vortec heads
new intake either the gm performance tbi intake or a another carb intake and get an adapter plate for it.
some flat top pistons.
afpr and rebuild the tbi unit and run 13.5 psi
headers and run 2 - 2 1/2 exhaust
some mild cam not sure on what word work still learning reading up on them
and of course a new prom. then ill worry about the gears and tranny :P and get the deck milled for up'd compression.
thoughts on that? would a 454 tbi unit bolt on to all that no problem? wondering if i should up it to that and install 454 injectors to it......
thanks in advance!
