I want to adjust my idle on my car, it is idling around 800 rpms right now, i want it down to like 500 rpms so it has the lope from the radical cam that i put in it. i know it is more than just adjusting the idle screw, because the computer will correct that, How do i adjust it so it stays? its a TBI, 350

it should be just the idle screw, because the computer cant correct that because its not fuel injection. unless you have a computer controlled throttle but i doubt it.
im pretty sure mine is computer controlled. its got a buncha wires going to it. but it is the factory throttle body

The computer does it. If you install a cam you will need to burn a chip and at that time you can change the idle.
there is a way to change it though. like turn the key to accessory and jumper two connectors under the drivers side dash, where that plug in thing is near the center console, i just dont know which connectors to connect, thats what im looking for, i did it before, but i forget which ones to use

unfortunately that is the only way. with a new cam you would want a new tune anyways.Supreme Member
You could take a look at where the base timing is set at. If theres room for some play back it down a tiny bit. There is a procedure to see and adjust your base timing so if you don't know it ask.
Also if you have the choice use a gun that will tell you revolutions per min.

Just so you know adjusting your timing is a fairly common practice. It’s usually advanced to get a little bit better throttle response. If yours is at"0*"Than I would not go any lower than that.
Also, have you even tried adjusting your throttle stop screw? If not than I would do that first. Make a mental note of how far you turn the screw so you can turn it back to it soriginal setting if needed. When I say turn the screw I mean just a tiny bit.My stop screw takes a Torx style driver (star shaped).If you don't have one I suggest you pick up an inexpensive set similar to these. Either this style or the folding set. Not the bits that fit on to a driver. My concern would be having one get stuck inside and coming off of the driver.

Turn key off and remove the A/B jumper.
The engine idle speed is now under control the of the TBI unit's idle stop screw....
