1992 camaro tbi wont run

I have a 92 camaro tbi 305 with 42,000 miles. I had a lifter go out. I replaced all the lifters and push rods.
The problem that I am having is since I've put it back together it will run for a few minutes then die. Then it won't start up again until the engine is cold.

I have good spark and good fuel pressure. I've checked everything I can possibly think of. I am am stumped. If anyone has any advice please help me out. Thank you!

Re: 1992 camaro tbi wont run

Sorry I can't recall, but a lot of people this year (on this forum) are having this same symptom. They rebuild something internally, spark and fuel good, but won't start again until cold. Darn myself for not screwing this fix into my brain. Sorry again.

Maybe this can be of help.

That's a good start. I've rebuilt the tbi last year approximately 4000 miles ago. I have two different throttle body's it does it with both of them. I've changed the o2 sensor today and it seemed to help a little bit.

Check and make sure that you are not loosing power to Fuel Pump after 2 minutes of running. FP Relay might be flaky.

Pull your ignition control module from inside the distributor and have it tested. Your symptoms sound like this could be your problem.

It's clear that since the engine runs, you have spark (and reasonably accurate ignition timing) and fuel pressure at that time. Do you have good spark and fuel pressure when it won't start? Do the injectors spray fuel when it won't start?

IF (big IF) you have spark and fuel spray, you must be missing compression, or you must have a plugged exhaust system. I think this is unlikely since the engine runs when it's cold. More likely is the spark or fuel spray (or both) going away as the engine warms up.

Lets not forget this difference between when the engine is hot or cold.

Having the ignition control module tested is easy and free. you have nothing to lose except some time.

HOW?

I don't have an F-body service manual, but based on my experience with an '88 K1500 and both '92 and '93 Luminas, the oil pressure switch can keep the engine running if the fuel pump relay fails. It cannot shut the fuel pump off unless the fuel pump relay has also failed.

Incorrect. My sensor went out and I had 0 pressure on the gauge. Ran 30 more miles on my commute home, after I verified it wasn't mechanical of course.

Re: 1992 camaro tbi wont run

FP relay and oil pressure switch contacts are in parallel - both are normally open (NO). GM designed FP power circuit so that if FP relay fails while engine is running the oil pressure switch will provide power to the FP. The moment oil pressure drops below set point - 4 to 6 PSI contacts will open removing power from FP if FP relay has failed.
