383 Xfire Best AFR's for Performance

Zeroing in a decent tune and looking for recommendations on target AFRs. At WOT I'm getting mid twelves with an occasional dip into the 10's, cruising right around 15. "84 Vette, 383 Stroker, 90# TBI injectors on a Renegade, mild CAM upgrade, and EBL ECM from Dynamic EFI. Wondering if I should be running richer on cruise. Perhaps there's a table someone can point me to... Thanks.

I cruise as lean as possible without misfire. In the 16-17:1 range.

So those guys are cruising in a lean burn for fuel economy. The other option with cruise is tune for torque and you'll end up somewhere between 14.3 and 14.5, probably Stoic is about 14.1 - 14.3 with typical gasoline that has a little alcohol content.

The more racy your engine the more you'll need to help driveability by tuning for torque.

Yes, thought so I'm going for performance not economy.

Can you explain what "tuning for torque" means?

Fuel delivery that results in max torque of engine.

You can tune the entire part throttle fuel and spark map on a Mustang dyno. Command the dyno to lock at a certain RPM and it will hold that no matter what you do with the throttle. Tune fuel for max torque. Repeat at different RPMs and load until you're done. Then go to your spark timing map and do it all over again. The whole process takes like 15 minutes if you can change things on the fly like with Holley EFI.

You'll drive away with part throttle response like you never thought possible.

Will burn way more gas and create much more carbon that way too. You can run lean at light loads, lower rpm and crusing conditions and still have perfect throttle response and quick torque delivery when needed.

IMO, get with Rob aka: Street Lethal on here and ask him if he will dial it in for you for max performance. He IS the bomb for EBL tuning and I am working with him on my new tune for my motor. Even though mine is not done right now, it runs really nice so far and he thinks that I should be able to get into the 11s with mine, but that is yet to be seen and would settle for and be ok with a 12.20.

An awesome ET for a Crossfire. Getting Rob's help... invaluable. Thanks. Short note - Was at a recent local car show with an NCRS event, obviously did not enter the NCRS thing but I displayed my car. Only Xfire out of over 100 Vettes. Told one the officials I should get an award for being the only Xfire there. He sarcastically replied "I'll give you the Xfire award". I refrained from physical and verbal retaliation. Like I could have said, "This is special Crossfire... (expletives omitted) ". Instead I let him get back to his exciting endeavor of looking for correct bolts on someone's undercarriage.

That sounds about right from some of those guys. CFI always gets a bad rap...until they get PUNISHED by one.
