My car is stuck across the street with a non working fuel pump. It's an 89 RS with a 350 and Holley TBI on top. I tried running an inline pump to the fuel intake line but the injectors aren't working. Apparently no pump no injectors? I just need it to run enough to go around the block to get to my drive way and be able to fix it. Right now it's Sunday and Tuesday is street sweeper day I really don't want a ticket, not to mention my neighbor is "really a NICE lady" :/ Having a bad day! Help would be very appreciated! Thanks.

Most likely not the fuel pump. Not related to the injectors.
Check your fuel pump/ECM fuse located next to the battery.

I know exactly the fuse you are talking about! I never knew that was what it was for...but thanks! I'm going to go check right now. 20 Amp right? OK, I pulled the fuse, looked OK, metered it, it was very crusty so cleaned it up with a little wire wheel and tried again. Still nothing. So how much voltage should be going across that fuse?

Do you have spark when cranking?

Does the pump prime when the key is turned from "Off" to "Run"?

No spark, no injector pulse, and no fuel pump all point to a distributor or wire harness problem between distributor and ECM. Perhaps a failed pickup coil, or a failed module. If the ECM does not get an RPM signal from the module via the wire harness, it won't pulse the injectors, it won't turn the fuel pump relay on, and you might not have spark.

But the pump should still prime, unless the fuel pump relay circuit is ALSO bad.

For the record, TBI distributors are notorious for failed magnets near the pickup coil. Causes misfire, or even no-start.

Magnet cracked where riveted.

As I said...yes, that's a potential cause.

My friend, all I did was cut out the all those if's / and's / but's / maybe's and actually suggested THE ONE THING that left one of my two stranded with the same exact Injectors Not Working - No Start condition more than once. By no means did i intend on rawling up "The Great Schurkey" by sharing with the OP my personal opinion... my deepest apologies.

Did you (the OP) get it off the street?
