N2o is the cheapest way to go fast but if you use it frequently it becomes the most expensive way (long term). With the $1200 you can get an Lt1 cam swapped in, new gears and posi, and full exhaust. If you are thinking about getting a 5.0 then go for it. They're fast cars from factory and have a better base drivetrain. The bore to stroke ratio is king of the hill unless matched up to a camaro with a 350, stroke it baby! Whatever you do make sure it's for a set goal. Do you plan on keeping this car for a long time? Do you want to just go fast in the 1/4? Do you want handling? What are your goals. I just don't want to telly you to get such and such when it might not be in your best interest.

LT1 cam = $50
Edelbrock TBI intake = $200
3.73 gears and posi = $400

that should be close to 1000 after installation and additional parts. That should help alot

The 5.0 is a nice car for straights. I hate the darn things when it comes to handling. My friend in high school had an 89 GT 5 speed. My other friend helped him install headers and exhaust. The car ran a 14.5 in the 1/4 with no other mods and that was his first time ever at the track. Definatly a low 14 car with exhaust and practice. Now as far as handling goes...let me just say that he doesn't have the car anymore because it went off the side or a road! I'm still driving my car .
Fast, fun, but dangerous. I also don't like the stang look, I just really hate the hood and head lights. I went to the e-town fast fords day and out of the hundred of mustangs at the show I liked only a handful. On the other hand, at the east coast f-body nats there were only a few 4th gens that I disliked. Seems to me that the f-body just looks like it wants to go fast while the stangs are more of a daily driver look. Kind of like a big escort .
Which ever way you go understand that they're both sports cars with their good and bad parts. F-body has one advantage, cost! Most everything is cheaper for an f-body than it is for the 5.0 or even worse, the 4.6 (pathetic).

i decided against it after driving my dads some its a 95 automatic GT it looks really nice (isnt the 4.6 style or the boxy style) it a nice ride and it handled OK with 215(i think)/45/17 inch tires plus that model is heavier so itll handle alittle better we havent ran against each other yet but im sure ill smoke him which is sad but it just doesnt seem very fast at all
