Awesome 383 TBI 92 Camaro RS at the track!

Here's a success story for you guys. I went to the race track today, and had the pleasure of having my butt handed to me by a 92 Camaro RS sporting a 383 TBI engine! He went 13.30 @ 100 MPH to my 14.20 @ 99 MPH (I bogged badly). Later on in the day he said he went 13.40 @ 100 MPH as well. My best today was also 13.40 @ 105 MPH. We asked him about his combo, and he said it was Edelbrock heads, Edelbrock TBI intake, stock throttle body, 1 5/8" headers ( I dunno what brand, I couldnt tell), and a Lunati 214/224 cam, all custom tuned by a JET chip. I was impressed! We talked to him about joining on the SoCal board, so we'll see if he shows up. He said he doesnt get on the computer very much.

A similar combo in a off-road magazine put down 300HP and 450 TQ. I think Edelbrock sponsored a project of theirs or something

Man if he could put a 670 or a 454ss tb on top of that thing, it'd scoot nicely!

it sounds to me like there is something seriously wrong with that 383...to have that much money in a motor and only run 13's....if i was him i wouldnt be happy...you can get that outa a 350 very easly

He's definatly going to need a different intake. That stock TB is crap when guys do a cam swap in their Lo5! Let alone a 383 with ballz to run a 100mph. That does seem kind of low. He must have a really mild cam be it flat tap or roller, either way it must be cheap. A 13.3 at 100mph is still an awesome ET considering the intake problem. Definatly a lower ET and higher mph if he could adapt a single plane and 2" bore TB.

I have to admit, 100mph is pretty weak from a 383.
