Car sounds like it has a turbo

After doing a brake stand for about 2 seconds my car started making a whistling sound when you would step on it. I have that edelbrock triangle foam filter i just thing the filter has something stuck in it. What do you guys think could be causing this its been an on and off thing for the past two days.

that's one of the worst air cleaners you can get. It's known for coming apart and getting sucked into the enigne. Besides that, the fringe benfit of a TBI is that it makes great sounds

If the rear bearing on the alternator is going bad it will sometimes whistle (tensioner pulley too) and gets louder with acceleration. You might wanna check those out and they are easily enough solved. Now if we could just talk AC Delco into putting larger rear bearings in their alternators!!!

I thought about getting one of those triangle filters until I checked one out in person and realized how much they really suck. I do like the idea of being able to pull air straight down though instead of making the right turn before going down into the bores. Carbs like to melt those things when they backfire too (seen it)

Mine whistles when I'm above about 2000 RPMs, or at least it used to (haven't had the windows down to hear it much lately) and its just from the aircleaner.

Yea, like a few people have said about the alternator. When the bearings start to go it'll whine pretty loudly. Pop your hood and listen to your front accessories... see what happens.
