TBI truck Vortec head swap!

I want to swap the stock heads for vortecs with the new gm intake. I know of a kit through www.paceparts.com you have to call them. What do you camaro guys do to achieve the swap, is it sucessful?

That would create some serious power with the TBI but you would have to run external EGR I believe.

I oreder the kit today from www.paceparts.com , it comes with the exhaust manifold off a 96' pickup with the EGR tube. I actually ordered it from the chip guy anfd got to talk to him about my chip. With my edelbrock 3702 cam it is still supposed to work ok and still be emissions legal.

What are the specs on your cam? Did it make a big difference? I have wondered about that kit. Please let us know how you make out, it sounds like a killer deal!!

Yeah, you can see the plumbing for the EGR in the front of the manifold. That's strange that they put it there and not in the middle or near the rear like everybody else. Especially since most exhaust systems (none turbo) have the pipes already going towards the rear of the vehicle!
If I had a truck, I'd have kept EGR for gas milage, but I don't, so I didn't .
Let use know how that kit works out.
BTW, is that a 95 burban? My Dad's got a 95 and it's TBI non-vortec 350. I'm going to be burning some eproms for it once I fork over the $20 for the tunercat definition file. I'd love to get the time to hack that ecm since it's got a faster 8192baud ALDL stream and controls the tranny shift points. I think it would be cool to have faster data logging for the track and the ability to run different shift points for the street and track .
That reminds me, I gotta get those pin out diagrams from Judd Porter!

I have an 88 pickup that I am putting a vortec crate motor in and I am keeping the TBI I was thinking of using the same intake. I was not aware of the EGR problem though. Is there any way to make it work with headers? Are there any other TBI/VORTEC intakes avaiable?

ya you have a pipe put on the header to get the exaust out to put in the EGR. www.sdpc2000.com should have the pipe you need.

If you need the pipe Call Pace Parts, there is a stock unit for stock manifold, If your running headers they can sell you headers that work with the system. www.paceparts.com
