Ultimate TBI tip

When you are removing your fuel line fittings from the injector pod, be careful not to twist the fuel line shut and make it break off. Errrr........yeah, ok.

No really, I did this and now I cant drive my car until I can find a new fuel line. I guess that just gives me some extra time to do an AFPR. After taking off the ridges and radiusing the bores it looks ALOT cleaner and it looks like it will flow alot better too. I just have to wait a couple days to find out.

I'm going to have to take my d*amn alternator off to even be able to take out the broken fuel line. Oh well, it's a learning experience.

Yeah, I love my GTA to death but with that TPI 350 in there it's really hard to work on sometimes, there just isn't enough room. I dont know how those LT1 guys do it either. I like the L03 because it leave some room to work around in and it's a very simple design. Once I took it all apart today I really realized how simple it really is. Now if I could just get it back on the road! SO how much of a difference will I notice with the ridges removed, the radiused edges, injector spacer, and the AFPR? What's the SoP difference? any? Also, I'm going to get a non-drop base air cleaner. Right now I have a drop-base so I cant remove that GM spacer ring. Will I feel a difference?

Yeah I did that, 15 bucks for a new fuel line from Chevy. I always have stupid luck like that. I redid my box and after I got it all in and screwed it down then screwed the subs in...found out I forgot to put on the ground for my amp. Had to take it all out to put the ground back on. 2 days lata, I realize my right break light is out. So I had to go back in and put the new bulb in. But guess whut I forgot...my keys under the sub box. Uggg Shoot me. I think I gotta start makin a list.

Only $15? That sounds good to me! Did they have the part laying around or did they have to order it for you? I MUST have this fixed by Wednesday night!

I ordered mine today. $24 for the fuel line and $14 overnight shipping from Michigan to Albany, GA.

I didn't know this but the junkyards wont sell used brake and fuel lines because if they fail the junkyard would be held responsible for the damages to the car and the person. Makes sence but that kinda sucks.

no new alternator

I did the same exact thing and you dont have to take the alternator off. I got new fuel lines and found some at the junkyard I have some extra if you need them. They just ahve a little bracket at the side of the alternator. 30 minute fix. Also it smells up your house like gas

I got it fixed yesterday. I thought the alternator might have to come out but I was able to manuever it in there. I drove the car around to check it out and I discovered I had a vacuum leak. I forgot to connect something (I was trying to hurry for work!). And then my stupid alternator decided to go out! AGH! So tonight I'm getting that fixed and hopefully I'll be able to drive it again!

Let me know how those mods worked out for you once you get it going again, I am planning on doing them this weekend.

Always use a backup wrench on fuel line fittings. That's a tough way to learn that lesson.

<-- Trying not to sound like the almighty know-it-all. I just took the word of someone else on this particular issue and am passing it on. It went something like: "Don't be too lazy to go grab a second wrench for this, trust me". I just went "Alright. No problem."

I kinda did the same thing, but I twisted mine trying to put a new fuel filter in.. i didn't even get it in.. i saw that it was super tight and while trying to untighting it was twisted.. so i stopped till have a little more money just as a "in case" thing. not twisted bad enough to crush or anything.. but i know the flow would be better if straight..
