My car gets hot at idle

i have dual fans running all of the time. a new radiator, new 180 degree thermostat. 2 year old water pump...the car runs fine while im driving on the highway or atleast at a decent speed, but as soon as i get into stop and go traffic with the A/C on the temp just creeps up on me. i usually turn off the A/C and put the windows down when the temp starts to climb above 220. any suggestions? im gonna change my coolant tomorrow and use a 50/50 mix and add a bottle of water wetter

Make sure you're not running lean or you don't have any exhaust clogging.

i cleaned out some leaves behind the condenser. there was a pretty good bit back there. but still it is cool out tonight and all and the temp still goes up on it. i know im not lean, im actually a little rich. im gonna see if maybe my cat is getting clogged or something too, maybe that could have something to do with it as mark said exhaust clog.

thanks for the help, anyone else have any ideas

BTW, i know this may be a long shot here....but sautrday i changed my oil and didnt realize it, but i bought mobil 1 synthetic blend, rather than the synthetic i normally use. i really doubt it, but could this have anything to do with it? im just trying to think of any possibility and this saturday is when it started getting warmer

what temp does your fans turn on? and also are you runing antifreeze or water? I do like 30% antifreeze and 70% water in the summer, then like 60% 40% in the winter. that makes a difference.

one thing i might suspect would be a bad temp sender for your gauge. or perhaps the gauge is inaccurate? did you flush the entire system at the time that you replaced the radiator? what kind of water pump? autozone? i have had fairly new cheapo water pumps go out within a year or so. hoses in ok shape? water level is ok? in other words you don't need to water every other day? just shooting some ideas around. good luck

i know the gauge is accurate(scan tool verified that). the water pump is a cheapo and im gonna replace it with an aluminum pump and also do a coolant flush.

thanks again for all of the ideas
