EGR Solenoid Diagnosing Question

In checking the wiring going to the EGR Solenoid i'm supposed to take a test light across the two terminals to the solenoid. Are the two wires going to the solenoid both positive wires? Or is one negative and one positive? It's my first time to test the wiring like this with a test light and i don't want to screw up my computer in the process so i want to do it right the first time. Also in checking the resistance of the EGR Solenoid what are the spec range in ohms for it to still be good.

ORAY,

A test light may not be very useful to diagnose the solenoid. Test the solenoid coil resistance with an ohmmeter. You should get something like 30-60 ohms. Connecting a test light while the EGR is connected and the engine is operating may indicate the pulses to the EGR solenoid from the ECM, or may not.
