how should I set up my PCV/Breathers on aftermarket valve covers?

These valve covers didnt' really come with baffles of any sort so that they clear the roller rocker setup....and it seems when I have a PCV installed the car smokes cuz its catching oil straight off the PCV through the carb, any ideas? I tried using a breather and then capping the other valve cover off entirely but my friend told me that closing off one valve cover entirely is a no no......??

You might look for a breather type cap that has a hole in the top for the pcv to fit into. I know ford used breathers like that. I just bought one for an old set of edelbrock covers i have that arent baffled. The one i bought was made for a hole with ears to twist into though.

You can buy valve covers with baffles they should work with your roller rockers provide you don't have stud girdles. I used the A/C delco chrome tall style w/baffles and it cleares my crane rollers no problem. Stick a pvc in 1 side and an open breather in the other.

Also, I know it sucks to have to buy new valve covers at 40 to 50 aclip. I just bought the a/c last year. I have some ducting problems that won't allow me to run the tall style valve covers. I now have my stock crusty low covers on until I decide to shell out some more cash.

I have always wanted to know, what is that long black rod running down in front of the air cleaner assembly, I see it on this site all the time on these motors?

What are they and what do they do?

A strut tower brace. It stiffens up the front of the vehicle by tying both strut towers together. It's more for road racing than straight line.

Those are centerbolt vavle covers, and the cheapest set of them that are "tall" are the ones I've got, which are around $125. They came with baffles that I was supposed to install, but the self threading screws that they came with were too big. Maybe I'll just take em off again and JB weld them on.

I don't have the part # off hand, but Moroso Makes a baffled grommet for PCV fitment. It's like $3. should be in Jegs or Summit with the chrome stuff.

PS: It fits a stock PCV in to the larger breather holes
