The easiest and least expensive way to.......

gain about 500 to 1000 rpm's.

Ok first off don't say get a 350. Next no cam swap. Headers I already have. And please don't flame my 305...right now I am shifting at 5200 but I was talking to a major 305 freak and he said that he could get another 1000 rpms but wants to charge me to do it "don't let ANYONE work on my car" and he won't even tell me what to do. But he has a 88 Formula that he shifts at 6200.......and has a stock rollor cam....I know because I saw him put it in when he built the motor...Yes it is a 305....
He said there was a few little things that he could do to get the revs up...........any ideas? My mods are in my sig. Remember I have headers but there too cheep to list.

Thanks guys, PLEASE DON"T FLAME MY 305

If you have an auto, I'd say go for a higher stall TC. Won't give you higher rpm breathing, but will help a lot.

An 88 Formula, I would hope that he did some TPI mods to get the breathing higher.

Why would anyone DOWNgrade to a TBI, that doesn't make any sense. He's got to be lying to you.

You could port and polish the heads.

Not True! Ive built a (as far as I know, we used the cam that was in the engine) stock 305 89 RS TBI only .30 over pistons and it had no problems running 6200 per shift at least in 1st and second, stock intake, TBI & exhaust. "Magic Hands I Guess"

Edit. I guess you have my suggestions covered already. Of course you could just bring me the car and lay my magic hands on it, after all I am a Pastor.

How could he be lying to me when I helped him set the engine in the car? And I see the car almost everyday. He is a pretty good friend of my but he thinks money is more important than friendship......go figure.....anyone else have any ideas?

I'd say find some new friends that are willing to help you out, that's what friendship is helping each other when needed.

I wouldn't have my car if it weren't for a friend. He loaned me $1700 to buy this car, and that was when we just graduated highschool.

if you want your car to go to 6200 rpm just leave it in 1st until you get to 6200 and then put it in 2nd till it gets to 6200 and then pop it on over to 3rd.......j/k im being a jack ***.

First of all your friend isn't making **** for power revving to 6200rpm with a stock cam, so what is the point of over revving? Secondly a 305 will tend to rev higher than a 350 all else equal due to the smaller bore, although the difference would be very small. Why you would want to rev that high just for the sake of it is beyond me.
