Not sure how to fix the fans, but a 180* stat won't do much good without a lower fan temp rating. The fans don't come on till about 220* stock.

do what I did when i was having that problem. Wire up a nice little switch directly under your dash on drivers side and run the fan all the time. No problems with cooling anymore for me.

Hey man sounds like the fan switch to me. You could always splice your wire going into the switch and make yourself a fan switch.

Hey Cobrakiller, wouldn't having the fan on all the time eat up some HP?

Extra drain on the alternator, perhaps. What, did you think that electricity was free?

One thing you'll learn if you study Physics--there really IS no such thing as a free lunch.

I don't have to leave them on all the time. I have a switch but I do leave them on quite a bit.

The drain on the electrical system from the fan is almost imperceptable. The alternator is spinning and making electricity all the time, so in essence it is "free".

Nope, try again. There is extra drag on the motor from the alternator being required to meet the extra load. The alternator is producing power all the time, yes, but the amount is controlled by the internal regulator which varies current output based on the "sense" wire.

It's been proven that DRL's lower fuel mileage--how do you think that happens? And many of them pull less current than one of our fan motors. Just because you can't perceive it doesn't mean it's not there.

I've run the thermomaster chip in the past. You'll like the improvements in the butt dyno.

What does a Thermo-master chip do exactly?

Thanks

So by that logic, the 6 halogen lights on the front of my car lower my gas mileage, cause they pull way more juice than my fan does. Sorry, not buying. I have owned this camaro too long and driven her too many miles to even begin to buy that one. My daytime and nighttime gas mileage are no different.

Advances ignition timing, firms up the shifts, improves fuel economy, improved throttle response and turns the fans on earlier. And it has to be used with a 160* stat.
