Engine combo

Wanted to hear a few reponses:

I've saved up quite a bit of money, and will continue to until I decide on a combo I'd like. Please tell me what you all think this combo would be good for.

Block: Bascially stock 400, std bore, flat top JE pistons with 10:1 compression running 6" rods (worried a little about that), forged crank
Upper end: AFR 210ccs with miniram intake. Custom tuned prom. Hyd. Roller cam around 230/235 duration (maybe slightly higher) and somewhere near 580+ lift with 1.6rrs.
Lastly, a 150-200 shot.

What could I expect off bottle, and on bottle assuming I've corrected all drivetrain problems and hook very well?

Sounds sweet. From experience go with more cam!!! Mine idles fairly smooth at 234deg and since you're going roller the adv duration is lower so you can get away with more! You'll have even more cubes and flow potential, go BIGGER. I wished I had.

With flat tops, you should be more around 11:1 with a 64cc chamber. I was worried about detonation but can get away with 91 octane no knc counts on a hot summer day, but since you're throwing NO2 into the mix you will have to compromise on compression (lower=more NO2 tolerence), camshaft (This motor N/A would love a single pattern, 110-112 LSA whereas NO2 would prefer a wider 114 dual pattern with a very long exhaust duration which scavenges the cylinders at low RPM's wasting off the bottle efficiency)

I can't throw out numbers but that thing with the proper chip is going to be wicked!

Also you will need a stroker cam (reduced base circle) She's going to be pretty tight Use ARP's 12 point nuts, not only will they give you some extra room, but will shave 64grams reciprocating weight. Might have to shave off some material from the top corner of the rod bolt (#2 and #6 just hit the cam for me) Trial fit everything. I left the rings off and did a dry platiguage check, then lubed the bearings and left the rings off again to rotate it through w/ the cam (Good thing, It needed work!!!)

With that much NO2 you might want to follow David Vizards approch drilling the main caps for oil piston cooling and using a modified big block pump needed to feed the extra oil. This creates more windage an therefore another off-the-bottle tradeoff loss.

JoelOl75,

Thanks, I've been reading up on this combo alot. Trying to figure out how I want it done. What about the lift on the cam, would that be large enough. I was thinking higher duration, but the car will be street driven (although it might not be fun, I just want it to get to point 1 to b without cutting off).

I heard about the small base diameter cam, so that was planned, wasn't sure on the LSA but 114 does sound good. Nitrous liked higher LSAs.

Will do on the bolts, Im going to attempt to be using H-beam rods, I've heard it'll slightly more clearance as opposed to trying to use the I-Beam rods.

I plan to trial fit everything, I'd hate to waste all the money because I didn't.

I've got the majority of books david vizard has wrote, I just haven't had enough time to read them. I suppose I still need to.

I hadn't heard anything about the drilling on the main caps, or the big block oil pump, would a high pressure, high volume sbc oil pump work well also?
