what would a good cam for me be?

Ok im about to switch to carb and ill be getting an intake, distributer and everything..anyways since the computer will be gone how big of a cam could i use? what would be the largest lift i could use that would be practical? i was thinking about getting a RPM intake and maybe getting a cam thats good for about 1500-6000 and eventually put a slightly higher stall in it.

if your getting an rpm intake why not get the rpm cam to go with it, its suited for the power band your looking for. You'll need heads, gears to go with it though. duration 234,244 lift 488 510
it might be a little aggresive for a 305

maybe a better choice would be the summit sum-k1104 224 duration .465 lift

I recentley purchased the k1102 cam, little smaller, so far looks good, i havent put it in yet, but you cant beat the price of 71 bucks

sucks to be you then.

depending on your goals i think the rpm manifold is over kill
i'd go with the performer and a cam with 220ish duration and 500-510 lift

Go to www.sdpc2000.com and check out the ZZ4 cams they have for $100. It'll work well for your application. You'll have to check for spring bind, and may want to throw some new springs in at the same time. I'm running a Performer RPM on my zz4 in my Chevelle with the stock ZZ4 cam, and it works great with gears and 2400 rpm stall. It idles smoothe, but screams right up to 6000 rpm in no time flat. Pulls real hard, and makes good vacuum for brakes. You may even find one for sale used if you look around. BTW, I'm using a 650 DP with this combo.
