ok...i was driving and th power steering went out and the car overheated so i stop and pop the hood...belt came off. then i noticed all the 3 bolts in the head (drivers side) broke off in the head itself. how the hell do i get these out?

 

ouch... most likely the only way is to drill them out and retap the holes.

 

if they broke off at the surface you could possibly, maybe, use a small rotery cutting bit to slot them and use a screw driver to turn them. Worked with a broken bolt in my bros starter. Longshot, though

 

thanks for the advice....ill try that...if it doesnt work i just picked up a screw extractor which i gotta drill into the stud and tap that thing in and put a nut sorta thing around it and hopefully it will come out.

 

there is a tool it is like a reverse drill bit that will grip it and turn it out. Just a thought.

 

Your best bet would go to the hardware store and get an easy out,. Wich was refered to in the previous post as a reverse drill bit.

 

Actually they do make left hand drill bits, and mechanics do use them for screw extracting.

But the best bet is to just drill it with about a 5/32" bit and use a #3 easyout to back it out.
