Overheating Solved!!!

Hey For all of you who perused my former topic "Still Overheating", I have since foxed the prob.

To recap, I had a broken heater control valve, and old t-stat. Replaced them both but was still running temps anywhere between 220 and 237ish. I've dual fan system. One fan controlled by computer, other by fan switch (which is designed by factory standards to turn on at 237). Runs too hot and sucks. Especially in Texas.

I bought a Hypertech Cool Fan Switch from thunderracing.com

Had PepBoys install it for $35 (by this time, I was so frustrated with it and did not want to hassel with raising the car, draining the coolant, splicing in the new wires and removing the old fan switch, which is a pain in the *** to get to kinda).

Have not seen temps in traffic above 180. WHen driving around, temp guage reads 160. So happy I spolied my car with a LeBra. It looks great too.

Thanks to all who replied and offered suggestions, and I hope this helps anyone who is frustrated with there temps.

Matthew91-Z28, Make sure you take off the "LeBra" and do not leave it on for long periods! I had one on my corvette and it ruined the paint on the nose! I left it on for a year and it rubbed the paint down to the primer!

You must not've had the bra tight enough.
I've had one on my beretta for 5 years. The paint is only slightly scuffed.
I take it off every year and wash it. While it's off I wax the he!! out of the front end.

I still have the brackets and Velcro strip for mine, but it's long gone. It's a toss-up whether you get more damage with or without it. I go bra-less and clean/wax more thoroughly.

I think bras look tacky.

I but a LeBra on my black 91 Z28. What happens is dust gets between the bra and clear coat. First time it rains, wham! Instant scratches, no matter how tight you have the bra. It wore the clear coat down is several spots and I'm pretty **** about cleanliness.
If you are worried there is this stuff called tuff tape I used to use. Large, 4" strips, kinda adhered like those clear window stickers. It was clear and I'd cut it to fit. I used it on long road trips on the lower front spoiler and were rocks would fly off and hit the rear part of the front fender and quarters.

Yeah, my front fascia was looking very rough after 10 years of rocks and debris pounding it. The paint everywher else looks great. Presently I don't have time to repaint the front end, and I got tired of looking at all those pock marks and scuffs, so I covered it with lebra. When I do get time to paint, I'll take it off and maybe use it for long drives.

Whats really cool though is that it matches the flat black of my convertable top. As far as looks/color go, it ties the car together kind of.

Whish that someone would figure out a backign material for that thing that won't rub paint off.

You know what I think would look really cool? If you took that black plastic "grill" off and painted it chrome and put it back on. It would prob show thru the mesh on the bra. What do you think?

Yeah...your ride looks much improved with the bra. Guess like you said, take it off periodically and wax the hell out of the surface before you put it back.
