Drove a Vette Today!!

Drove the one in my signature. All I can say is WOW. This was the first time driving a stick in 2 yrs and that was when I had an 88hp Stang. A bit different. Car pulls extremely hard. I stalled once, it's kind of hard to take off in 3rd. Guy behind me was laughing. I was hopin to pull up to something worth racing at a light, but nothing. Just thought I would share.

Yeah that is the most fun car I have ever driven. My sister has had two,a 98 and a 00.The 00 was a six speed and she would let me take it out once in a while.140 comes fast and it feels like it would keep accelerating hard for a good while after that.:hail:

I have a question, I remember when I was first learning to drive a stick, I was told not to shift into 1st until the car is stopped. My GF drove the Vette first and shifted into 1st at like 10mph or so, and the tranny didn't make any noise like grinding. Are all new sticks this way, seemed like I could shift into 1st any time. I still cringed everytime she did it.

Nope, I have an auto. That sound clip is me shifting ( tranny slips right now on the 1-2 so I let off the gas to shift faster).

It's pretty cool how the MPH and RPMs are on the windshield. I pulled up beside a Turbo Porsche, one car behind. I revved it a couple times at the light up to like 5k.

Too bad the Vette doesn't have the Hooker Aero Chambers.

how long ago did you learn to drive a stick? on the old crash boxes it wouldnt be a great idea to shift into first at a "high" speed, but now all the manual transmissions just use synchros....
