At how many miles do you junk your car?
You don't junk it based on miles. You junk it based on:
It got totaled in an accident
The body is in horrible shape and will need most of the body panels replaced or repaired.
You've driven it forever and everything is worn out. The car needs a total restoration, but you are unwilling or unable to do so.
It caught on fire, was submerged in a flood, or damaged beyond repair by any number of circumstances.
That being said, if hte car seems like more work than you are willing to put into it, there is probably still a buyer for it out there that will give you more than a junkyard would. Then, you can start your search for a nice IROC or TA.

Ditto...don't junk the car unless the rust demon kills the body. Mechanical components can/should be replaced. Reliability is in the eye of the beholder. If everything is new, isn't it reliable then?

My odometer goes to 999,999 miles, I'd like to see it roll over
But at the rate I'm going that would take another 50 years to get that many miles. I wonder what the kids in 2052 whould think seeing an 87 year old man cruising around in his 1992 T-top Camaro.

As an interesting note, I have 180,000+ miles on my car. I don't know the exact mileage, because the speedometer has been broken or inaccurate for about 1 1/2 of the 3 years I've had it, and I bought it with 173,000 with a non-functioning speedometer. Who knows how many miles were put on it after the speedometer broke originally. Let me jut say tht it's been a LOT of work so far, but it will be worth it when I'm done.

Unless it's been in a really bad accident, or is covered with cancer (rust) I think mileage isn't really much of an issue, as long as things are replaced as needed.
Bought my 92 RS new in 92.
It has 230,000 miles on it now.
Most think it looks like a 20,000 mile ca, but I've stayed on top of things all along.

I've got 233,000 miles on my:
original motor! (2.8 V6)
third 700r4
second front subframe
third hood & bumper & left fender & left flip up light
second right fender & right flip up light
second pair of doors
I'd go further, but the list is endless.
I vote for "never".

There is almost 300,000 km on mine. Never had any problems with the 2.8. It was stiil running strong when I pulled it about a month ago and dropped in the 350. The body is still good. Only minor rust.

I remember when my old Safari Wagon hit 200,000. It was such a trip seeing all of those zeroes. I decided to take it to Jerky-Loob for a celebratory oil change, and when the kid hopped in to check the milage, he looked up and said,
'Your odometer's broke, man.'
The digits were 00012.
I really wish Dad hadn't gotten rid of that car after I bought the T/A.
If any one knows where I can find a '78-79 Pontiac Lemans Wagon, lemme know...
I've junked 2 cars so far
first a 75 Duster with about 104K. I bought this car for $400.00 it was primer grey with major rust, no floor boards, an AM radio. It came with a trunk full of spares because the front end was shot it would wear the tires out on the inside after a few hundred miles. I bought this junker because someone tried to steal my 85' Iroc from Newark, NJ. I finally blew a head gasket racing my brothers Saturn. I drove it a little while longer the oil looked like a chocolate shake. This car was garbage.
The second was a 79' Volare' a repackaged Duster. This car was just plain garbage it got junked at about 103K.
Never junked a Chevy.

Of all the things I've ever parked my butt in, the only things I've ever scrapped were a 1968 VW that was totalled with me in it, and a 1967 Plymouth that had no body left (typical Mopar). The VW ran great until it was pushed onto the railroad tracks by a Ford Econline van (yeah, I got out before the train got there), and the Plymouth had the 225 crooked six that was still running great at 190,000+ miles. After the replacement floorboards had rotted through, it was time. Even thne AC still worked like new.
If you are considering scrapping a car due to mileage alone, you must not be into maintenance. If the body has been cared for, and the problems have been fixed along the way, there should be no reason you can't sell it to a new owner rather than scrap it.
