Rims, Tires, offsets, lug nut spacing....???

Whats up guys?....alright I have a few questions for all of you about tires and rims.....my first question is...Whats the biggest tire i could fit on a 15x6.5 inch rim?....I dont want something huge but I want something a littl wider than what i have....my second question is...What is the spacing between each lug???...or how do i find that out???....was it a standard size on all camaros???...these are my first few questions i am sure i will think of some more but the answers to these right now would help me out a lot.

Thanks

Chris

235 is probably the biggest on a 6.5" wide rim.

Our bolt pattern is 4.75 inch or 120.65mm on 5. It's the same size bolt pattern on most GM intermediate passenger cars and light trucks.

Chris,

The standard lug pattern is 5 x 4-3/4".

About the widest tyre that can be fit on a 6½" wide wheel is a 225. Any wider, and the sidewalls will be pinched to the point where the tread will be forced into a crown at its center. As the aspect ratio of the tyre increases, the width section can be increased since the taller sidewall can flex more without crowning the tread. You might be able to get away with a 235/75-15, but with an aspect ratio of 50% (50-series) the maximum tread width would have to be reduced to 225, or a 225/50-15 might be the widest. On a 7" wide wheel, you can squeeze a 235/50-15, and on an 8" wheel, 245-255 can fit in a 50-series.

You should be able to use up to a 40mm offset, but don't go below 20mm on the front wheels because of steering arm clearance limitations.

Chris, the numbers for tire size break down like this. If you have a 235/60/14 for instance, the 235 is the width of the tread section in millimeters. The 60 means 60% of the width (235mm) from the tread to the rim, and is called aspect ratio. And of course the 14 would be the rim diameter. a 235/60/14 would be the same width as a 235/70/15. You have to watch the aspect ratio or you may end up with tires that are really tall and will mess up your speedo. I'd say in your case, you would be happier in the long run (and safer) finding a set of 16 inch wheels and going with a wider 50 series (the second number ) tire. The shorter sidewall really helps the handling out. Hope this makes some sense and helps.

I'll agree. If you're going to purchase new wheels, don't even bother looking at the 7" wide selections. You'll be very limited in tire selection.
